Week 6 was about mapping your Core Processes.

Not because mapping is exciting. But because without it, everything still depends on you.

Once founders identify their Vital 20%, the next instinct is relief.

“Good. Now I know what matters.”

But then reality hits.

You still have to protect those things. You still have to explain them. You still have to answer questions about them.

And this is where most founders make the next mistake.

They try to document everything.

  • Every step.
  • Every exception.
  • Every edge case.
  • Every historical workaround.

What starts as clarity turns into something else... Process bloat.

And process bloat is one of the fastest ways to recreate burnout, this time disguised as “good operations.”

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:

Most documentation doesn’t reduce dependency. It just moves it into a Google Drive.

So even though you’ve “documented,” your team still asks:

  • “Is this the right situation for this process?”
  • “What do we do if the client pushes back?”
  • “Can you sanity-check this?”

And suddenly, you’re back where you started.

The problem isn’t that your team won’t follow process.

The problem is that bloated process creates decisions, not execution.

When documentation tries to cover every possibility, people stop trusting it. When they stop trusting it, they stop using it. And when they stop using it, you become the system again.

That’s why Week 7 matters.

Because the goal of documentation is not completeness... It’s relief.

Documentation should do three things:

  1. Remove decisions from the team
  2. Remove interruptions from the founder
  3. Remove rework from the business

If it doesn’t do those things, it’s noise.

So here’s the shift for Week 7:

Stop documenting everything. Start documenting the few steps that always happen.

Ignore edge cases. Ignore rare exceptions. Ignore perfection.

If a process lets your team handle 80% without you, that’s success.

Burnout doesn’t come from lack of process. It comes from unusable process.

And when documentation gets lighter, leadership gets lighter too.

Next Week:

You’ve simplified. You’ve identified the Vital 20%. You’ve cut process bloat.

Next week, we make it measurable.

How do you keep complexity from creeping back in once things start working again?

That’s where the Simplification Scorecardcomes in.

And it’s what keeps burnout from returning quietly.

Turn what you know into how your business runs.

Stop explaining the same process twice.
